If you’re considering a trip to Galveston, Texas. Here are some things you can’t miss out on!
I absolutely adored this charming city. Every turn was another colorful piece of history. We flew into Bush Houston airport and grabbed an Uber for the 45 min drive down to Galveston. If you’d rather opt for scheduled bus service, there are many companies that bus for the cruises. You can jump on one of those!
We found this BEAUTIFUL airbnb which I would highly recommend!
Take a look at what we loved doing on Galveston Island
1. Take A Bike Ride Through Downtown and Onto the Beach
Rent a bike, put some island reggae on the bluetooth speaker and cruise through the historic downtown. Every street has bright colored homes, friendly faces, and so much character. Then, head down to the beach and cruise through the water.

2. Grab a Treat at LaKings Confectionary
This quaint candy shoppe uses recipes passed down from the 1920’s. You can watch as they pull taffy on their antique equipment, then dig in, because they have a ton of delicious flavors. You can also find homemade chocolates, fudge, brittles and more. They also make and serve Purity ice cream which is Texas’ oldest ice cream manufacturer and founded on Galveston Island!

3. Grab a Bite to Eat at Bubba Gump Shrimp on Pleasure Pier
We loved sitting down at this restaurant after playing at the beach all day. We enjoyed a cocktail (or two) and ate some very delicious seafood. The whole side of the restaurant is full of windows so that you can enjoy the ocean view. Check out Pleasure Pier after, you can ride the ferris wheel and try your hand at ring toss.

4. Take a Stroll Down Strand Street
Walking down this street you will find tons of unique shops. From the witchery to beachy boutiques, home decor and coffee joints. This is a must stop location, also, where you can find LaKings Confectionary!
5. Have A Backyard BBQ
As you all know, I love staying in vacation rentals. Experiences like this are exactly why! We grabbed some steaks and beer and enjoyed the sounds of crickets and the warm texas beach air.
